How to apply snow in Photoshop

View the video to see how to easily apply snow to your scenes without the need of any 3rd party filters or software. It's a simple procedure that works in any version of Photoshop or Photoshop elements. View the video full screen.

A couple of added notes about the movie
i) One person has mentioned when they click on the move tool to resize the black rectangles they cannot see the graphic handles to perform the resize. When you get to this stage ensure you look at the options bar after the move tool is selected. On there you will see the Option to Show the Transform Controls make sure the box is ticked.
ii) When you use the Motion Blur filter you will notice a dial to change the angle of the blur. Make sure you use this to get the desired angle to make the sleet layer look like it has a downwards angle, I think I used around 40% in the video but adjust to your taste.

Bit of Snow today!

Some early snow this morning prompted me to get out the house early and take a few shots of the street outside the house. This one probably came out the best of the bunch shot in darkness almost, with just a little light from the streetlights I used a setting of 2000 ISO at F5, which still only gave me a shutter speed of 1/5th of a second so a steady hand required with no tripod to achieve the shot with the Canon 1DX EOS and a 24-70mm lens. If you follow my footprints you can see where I live.

Using a shot of the street that lay behind me in the above shot I combined it with a shot of a field of snow and lots of Photoshop editing and drawing to produce the image below. The snow falling from the sky was created very easily in photoshop using a simple technique I will feature on here in the near future with a tutorial.

And then some more Photoshop work with a shot took with my little Canon SX60 of some water droplets from the tap! Lots of editing, texturing and colouring to age the scene and bullet hole added to look like it's viewed through glass using an Adobe CC Stock Art image for the bullet hole. The title of the image is called "Blood Bath" and if some Hollywood thriller, horror film producer wants to use this for a film and make me a very rich man then please don't hesitate I'll send my bank details! ;)
